Datos Media integrates a new ingest, archive and content distribution system for the senate sessions recordings25 - November - 2016
Datos Media carried out an integration project of ingest, archive and content distribution system for the parliamentary sessions recordings in the Senate.
The aim of this project was to update the Senate’s capture system which was based on tape. It has been provided with a fully digital system, which gives access to the contents immediately, even while the recording is taking place. Furthermore, it allows the possibility to distribute these contents and incorporate the parliamentary cataloguing metadata, coming from the Gelabert system, in real time.
To achieve this, Datos Media has chosen as main bands Root6, Tedial, Panasas y DVS.
On one hand, Datos Media has installed two DVS Venice video servers configured to ingest 6 SD/HD video signals, as well as 2 outputs for replay. For storage as a caché system and high performance central, we counted on the capability and performance of Panasas’ Activestor 14 with 73 TB storage configuration and 1,5GB bandwidth.
It is worth mentioning the scalability properties which open up possibilities for future extensions. Content security is very important, that is why, Activestor 14 and Venice both are equipped with a Raid 6 system in their disks. For the transcode and delivery system Root 6 was chosen, which offers quality, accessibility and safety in their operations. And finally, for content management we relied on the experience of Tedial with the new Tarsys 5, which will be responsible of receiving and managing the data coming from the parliamentary cataloguing system and near-line archiving of the media in the LTO6 library. The whole system runs on a Wmware platform ensuring flexibility and effectiveness.
This way Datos Media has succeeded in this project providing integration solutions which are on the same level importance as the information generated in an institution as the Senate.
